Jan. 3, 2013

The 2nd “Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition” presented by Pureology launched Jan. 2, giving K-12 schools across the U.S. the chance to enter to win a green makeover, as well as prizes towards sustainability upgrades for runner-ups. Support for the competition was provided by Office Depot. The competition will be open from Jan. 1 to March 31, and winners will be announced in June 2013.

The competition will award one grand prize winning school $75,000 in cash and $65,000 worth of technical assistance to fund their proposed green project(s). The top 10 schools will receive Office Depot gift cards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Parents, teachers and students are encouraged to enter their school over the next few months for a chance to win this once in a lifetime prize. The entry form can be found on the Global Green website. A panel of judges selected by Global Green USA will choose the grand-prize winner and four runners-up.

The 2011 Green School Makeover Competition winner, The Texas School for the Deaf, used the funds received for energy efficient upgrades, water conservation tactics, water reduction tactics, and recycling education programs
