Jan. 15, 2014

Xylem Inc. was awarded a $2.7 million contract to supply the equipment and technology for a storm water drainage system to protect against future storm damage along Route 35 on the New Jersey coastline.

The new, state-of-the-art drainage system will consist of 47 Flygt Slimline pumps and 27 smaller Flygt submersible N-pumps in nine pump stations located at various intervals along the 12 mile stretch of road that was severely damaged by the storm. Flygt MultiSmart pump controllers will ensure the efficient operation of the system. Each of the nine pump stations will have a capacity of moving between 25,000 and 35,000 gpm.

Installation of the new system began before the end of 2013, and part of the new system is due to be in operation before summer 2014.
