New Jersey Pipe Plant Wins Citation of Merit Award
Oldcastle Precast’s Folsom Pipe Plant has been presented New Jersey’s Citation of Merit Award for their achievement in the prevention of occupational injuries for the second consecutive year (2013 – 2014).
The award, given to companies without any work-related lost time from injury or illness over one year to four consecutive years, respectively, was presented to Oldcastle Precast on May 6, 2015 at New Jersey’s Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Awards Program.
The award celebration was held at Auletto Restaurant in Almonesson, N.J., where Oldcastle Precast personnel shared the company of state and federal Representatives in addition to other organizations that have achieved millions of hours of no lost work time or injuries in their facilities.
In attendance from Oldcastle Precast were George Hand II, operations manager; Dennis Stevenson, plant manager; Angelique Bracer, EH&S mManager - Mid-Atlantic Region; Joshua Tyler, assistant plant manager; Joseph Emonds, maintenance supervisor; Phil Costello, sales; Ed Fontanez, lead-man; Mustafa Sivri, lead-man; and Rick Neals, all celebrating Folsom’s outstanding safety achievement.
The Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Awards Program is based on the calendar year with Recognition and Group Awards presented to those with a yearly lost time incident rate of 3.0 or less. Citation of Merit, Division of Public Safety & Occupational Safety and Health, Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development and Governor's Awards are given to those without any work-related lost time from injury or illness over one year to four consecutive years, respectively. A Governor's Continued Excellence Award is awarded for five or more consecutive years.
This awards program, now known as the Governor's Occupational Safety & Health Awards Program, is presently in its 87th year and is now open to both private and public employers regardless of size. Since its inception in 1927, thousands of awards have been earned and the program has played an important role in promoting a safer and healthier workplace.
