San Diego County Opens Erosion Control Center
On July 11, San Diego County officials opened an Erosion Control Center to help residents impacted by the recent West and Building wildfires. The new center will connect residents with county public works staff and offer educational tools and free erosion control products.
According to the Times of San Diego, the Erosion Control Center will offer residents the chance to receive the advice of county public works staff on how to protect their properties from erosion damages associated with wildfires and will be available by appointment only. Additionally, the staff will be available to visually inspect properties and offer personalized advice.
The center will provide free sand, sandbags, fiber rolls and other soil stabilization items as property owners impacted by the wildfires prepare for rain. Officials have cautioned residents that wildfires increase flood risk, as many southern California residents experienced in the wake of the Thomas Fire last spring.
