Purdue Professor Receives ADS Achievement Award

Indrajett Chaubey, Ph.D., receives the Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. Soil and Water Engineering Award

Indrajett Chaubey, Ph.D., of Purdue University has been named the recipient of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) 2014 Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) Soil and Water Engineering Award.  Sponsored by ADS, this ASABE award recognizes Chaubey's accomplishments and contributions to improve watershed management.

Chaubey heads up the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences and is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue.

Sponsored by Hancor / ADS since 1966, the prestigious ADS Soil and Water Engineering Award is given annually in recognition of contributions to the advancement of soil and water engineering in teaching, research, planning, design construction, management or materials development.           

Chaubey is recognized for his leadership of national and international efforts to quantify how land use changes due to recent demand for biofuel production, agricultural intensification and urbanization will impact water availability, water quality, and ecosystem services.

 In addition to the ADS award, Chaubey is also the recipient of the ASABE’s New Holland Young Researcher award. He has been published on the topic of water management, and has earned multiple faculty and research awards from both Purdue and the University of Arkansas.
