Storm water professionals are revving their engines as they await the start of the 15th annual North American Surface Water Quality Conference & Exposition in Indianapolis, Aug. 22 to 25.

For the first time, WasteCon will run concurrently with StormCon, and guests of both conferences may visit the exhibit halls of either event.

StormCon offers eight pre-conference courses Aug. 21 and 22 for continuing education unit credit, with topics ranging from BMP selection and urban stream stabilization to storm water pollution monitoring and debunking green infrastructure myths. A two-day certification course for sediment and erosion control also is available.

Suntree Technologies will host a kickoff reception Aug. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. with food, drinks and opportunities to network, meet colleagues and visit vendors in a casual atmosphere. The StormCon  and WasteCon exhibit areas will be open to visitors during the reception.

Everybody will get a chance to visit the winner’s circle as StormCon’s annual gala reception will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Aug. 24 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The StormCon exhibit hall will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23, and 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 24. AbTech Industries will sponsor the keynote address during the Opening General Session on Aug. 23 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Luncheons on Aug. 23 and 24 will provide additional networking opportunities over food and drink.

Special events this year include bike and bus tours of Indianapolis to admire award-winning green infrastructure projects like the 8-mile Cultural Trail’s 25,000 sq ft of storm water planters.
