City in Kansas opens applications for 2026 stormwater cost share program
The city of Overland Park, Kan. has opened applications for its 2026 Stormwater Cost Share Program, which helps residents and business owners fund eco-friendly stormwater management projects.
The program reimburses costs for materials and labor on projects designed to capture, slow down or absorb rainwater runoff, helping protect local water quality, a press release by the city said.
Eligible projects include:
- Rain and pollinator gardens
- Rain barrels
- Native tree plantings
- Permeable pavement
To participate, applicants must submit applications through the city's online portal and wait for email confirmation and approval from city staff before beginning work. After project completion, participants must submit before-and-after photos and receipts for final approval and reimbursement processing.
The city awards funding on a first-come, first-served basis upon project completion and approval by the Public Works Department. The application window remains open until Oct. 30 or until all funds are allocated. Approved projects must be completed and submitted by Nov. 16 to receive reimbursement.
