Timmons Group's Charlene Harper to Speak on Low Impact Development Techniques at Meeting

Harper to present LID’s role in storm water runoff to Society of American Military Engineers

Civil engineering design firm Timmons Group announced that sustainable design coordinator Charlene Harper, PE, LEED AP, will be speaking at the meeting of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Central Virginia Post, Feb. 9 in Fort Lee, Va.

Titled “Using Low Impact Development (LID) Techniques to meet State, LEED and Section 438 Stormwater Requirements,” Harper’s presentation will explain the concepts of LID and its role in controlling storm water runoff. She will also compare and contrast the storm water requirements of Virginia state permits, LEED storm water credits and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) guidelines for complying with EISA Section 438.

Harper is a residential water resources expert at Timmons Group and has worked on numerous civil and storm water design projects for both public and private clients. Harper also trains and mentors junior engineers, has lectured at several conferences, has published articles on the practice of sustainable civil design and serves on national LID committees through the American Society of Civil Engineering.
