Permeable Pavement Live Case Studies…the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

June 19, 2015

When it’s not done right…permeable pavement isn’t pretty. Don’t let your permeable pavement stormwater project fall flat…learn from the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Join David Hein for the final session in our Permeable Pavement Master Class Series  exploring real-world permeable pavement applications and projects demonstrating permeable pavement design and construction key features and effective application through a series of the good, the bad, and the ugly case studies and photographs. Discussion will focus on the elements, application, and maintenance designed for long-term system performance, and is followed by case study examples of interlocking concrete block permeable pavements using the Permeable Design Pro software developed by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute.

This webinar will be available live on August 12, 11:00 am12:30 pm PDT / 2:00 pm-3:30 pm EDT, and available on-demand after the live event. Register for the event by clicking the button below.

In this webinar, Hein returns to complete our Master Class Series with a discussion of porous asphalt, pervious concrete, permeable interlocking concrete, and grid pavement design elements (e.g., subgrade preparation, characterization of design traffic, base and subbase materials, design details for structural capacity, and design details for hydrological capacity), followed by live case study design of a parking lot and a roadway using the Permeable Design Pro software developed by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute.

  1. Determination of design traffic
  2. Analysis of subgrade support capability
  3. Analysis of rainfall intensity
  4. Site drainage analysis
  5. Appropriate selection of base and subbase aggregates
  6. Supplementary pavement surface and subsurface drainage

Learning Objectives

Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives:

  • Understand the common design and construction features important to the performance of permeable pavements.
  • Understand the impact of permeable pavement design features.
  • Understand the application of design and construction in real-world applications, and case study results.
  • Understand, communicate, and promote sustainable pavement design and construction.
