StormCon, the 10th annual North American Surface Water Quality Conference and Exposition, will bring more than 1,000 storm water professionals to Anaheim, Calif., Aug. 21 to 25.

The event provides a forum for anyone involved in storm water management, from municipal and government officials to contractors. This year’s event will include sessions in seven tracks: BMP Case Studies, Green Infrastructure, Stormwater Program Management, Water Quality Monitoring, Advanced Research Topics, Erosion and Sediment Control and Industrial Stormwater Management. Storm water beginners and veterans are welcome, with both non-technical and advanced sessions available.

This year’s event also will feature “Preparing for the Rising Tide: Coastal Protection Symposium,” a one-day curriculum on protecting infrastructure in coastal areas as sea levels rise. Special presentations on Aug. 24 will focus on municipal responses to rising sea levels, including regulations and technology.

With more than 150 exhibitors, the expo hall is worth a visit. Open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 and all day on Aug. 23 and 24, it will provide an opportunity to meet with vendors, learn about new products and network with other storm water professionals. Evening receptions on Aug. 22 and 23 will provide further networking opportunities.

An additional feature this year will be the pre-conference certification courses and corresponding exams. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn CPSWQ, CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC and CMS4S certification with review courses on Aug. 21, followed by exams on Aug. 22.
