Thousands of water and wastewater professionals will visit the Big Easy Oct. 2 to 6 for the 83rd Annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC).

The tradeshow, recently named the 74th largest in the U.S. by Tradeshow Week, will take place at New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Situated along the Mississippi River and rebounding from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the host city promises attendees an abundance of model case studies and tours, plus a vast exhibition hall and special events.

Technical Program
WEFTEC.10 will offer 35 workshops and 112 technical sessions, many pertaining to the storm water sector. Opportunities include:

  • “Wet Weather Treatment Options and Regulatory Strategies.” Oct. 2, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • “Reframing Old Problems: New Ways to Look at the Familiar CSO/SSO Issue.” Oct. 4, 1:30 to 5 p.m.
  • “Public Communication, Outreach and Education About Storm Water.” Oct. 5, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
  • “Green Approaches to Storm Water Management.” Oct. 6, 1:30 to 5 p.m.

Tours
Six facility tours will take place in conjunction with WEFTEC.10. Attendees may preregister for the site visits, which include:

  • “Collection Systems Tour: Lessons Learned from Hurricane Katrina, presented by St. Bernard Parish.” Oct. 4, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • “Rebuilding New Orleans: Global Green USA’s Holy Cross Project.” Oct. 4, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • “Jefferson Parish’s Elmwood Drainage Pump Station.” Oct. 5, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • “The City of Mandeville Public Works Department.” Oct. 5, 1 to 5 p.m.

Expo &Special Events
The Exhibition Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 to 6, with water and wastewater manufacturers and service providers showcasing their latest and greatest offerings.

Rounding out the week’s education sessions, tours and expo hours are a variety of meetings, networking events and celebrations. Consider the following when creating your calendar:

  • Industrial Networking Reception. Oct. 4, 5 to 6:15 p.m.
