Greening Up the Workplace

Sept. 7, 2018

A report released by the World Green Building Council aims to establish a tangible monetary link between sustainably built office buildings and worker health and productivity.

The report takes into account hundreds of academic and industry studies covering a range of office building design features. In one example, the report shows that indoor air-quality improvements may boost productivity 8% to 11%.

The report may be oversimplifying, some caution; sustainable design strategies alone may not necessarily translate into better worker health and productivity.

Making any building a little greener isn't a bad thing, however, and if employees can reap quantifiable benefits of an employer's investment in sustainability, then all the better.
