EPA Region 6 to Host Storm Water Conference

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 (R6), in partnership with Hot Springs, Ark., Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), and states in Region 6 will hold the 17th Annual Stormwater Conference Oct. 18 to 22, 2015, in Hot Springs, Ark.

Agenda topics include:

  • Storm water management programs (Phase 1 & 2);
  • Sustainability, green infrastructure and low impact development (LID);
  • Total maximum daily loads and watershed protection;
  • BMP case studies;
  • Construction and industrial storm water management; and
  • Advanced topics and new technologies.

Keynote speakers:

  • Stephen Luoni, University of Arkansas Design Center, director;
  • Rich McLaughlin, Soil Erosion Control Research Facility at North Carolina State University;
  • Brad Lancaster, Watershed Management Group, Arizona;
  • Marty Matlock, University of Arkansas - Office of Sustainability;
  • Delia Haak, Illinois River Watershed Partnership, executive director; and
  • Jason Vogel, Oklahoma State University.

Workshops:

  • Minimize Cost and Maximize Return: LID/GI Site Assessment and Design (EPA and San Antonio River Authority);
  • Rainwater Harvesting: Brad Lancaster (Watershed Management Group, Arizona); and
  • A Rain Barrel Workshop - Build and Teach Others (University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service)

Special Events:

  • EPA R6 GI/LID poster competition, sponsored by the Environmental & Water Resources Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers;
  • Offsite industrial and construction storm water inspection courses; and
  • GI/LID Panels and EPA/states inspection, compliance and enforcement panels.

The early registration fee of $300 has been extended to Sept. 15, 2015. After this date, a late registration fee of $355 will apply.
