The grant program is offered in conjunction with the Urban Waters Federal Partnership which gives priority to projects located in underserved, environmentally overburdened communities.
The Five Star & Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program seeks to develop community capacity to sustain local natural resources for future generations by providing modest financial assistance to diverse local partnerships.
NFWF anticipates that approximately $2 million in combined total funding will be available for projects such: wetlands creation and restoration; green infrastructure and storm water management; citizen’s science and volunteer water monitoring; projects that reduce or eliminate trash from entering waterways; coastal habitat, riparian, urban forest restoration and other water quality protection and restoration projects in local communities.
