Filterra Bioretention Systems successfully completed the new Stormwater Manufactured Treatment Device Verification Program from New Jersey Corp. for Advanced Technology (NJCAT) and was certified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The new laboratory based testing protocol, verification procedure, and certification process was developed in partnership with the regulated industry, NJCAT and NJDEP and finalized in January 2013.
Filterra Bioretention Systems is now approved as a stand-alone treatment device in New Jersey. As noted in the NJCAT Verification Report and NJDEP Certification Letter, Filterra exceeded the program’s requirements of treating the target of 80% removal of Total Suspended Solids (TSS). “Filterra is pleased to not only be the first technology to have completed and been certified under the new NJCAT laboratory protocol, but we are excited to have passed with flying colors.” said Glen Payton, General Manager, Filterra Bioretention Systems.
“Filterra exceeded the quality treatment requirements with 90% TSS removal, easily met the scour test requirements at 2 ppm average TSS effluent (target < 20 ppm) under sediment load and Q10 bypass flow rates in on-line design, and showed successful operation up to 4.5 years without maintenance with no loss of hydraulic capacity or quality treatment performance under the Sediment Mass Loading Capacity Test (accelerated ageing).”
