Singapore Intl. Water Week Scholarship Recipients Announced

Winners will participate in next month’s Singapore International Water Week

The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) announced recipients of their new Singapore Intl. Water Week Scholarship (SIWWS), which will fund participation in the Singapore Intl. Water Week (SIWW) that is scheduled for June 1 to 5, 2014.

Eight recipients will join a delegation of U.S. utility leaders hosted by the Singapore Public Utility Board and the three scholarship sponsors to attend the event. The scholarship recipients include:

  • Jay Bernas, chief of planning and analysis, Hampton Roads Sanitation District, Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Rajendra Bhattarai, division manager, Austin Water Utility Environmental and Regulatory Services, Austin, Texas
  • Tom Broderick, deputy general manager operations, Loudon Water, Ashburn, Va.
  • Sandra Kilroy, assistant director, King County Wastewater Treatment Div., Seattle
  • Jim McQuarrie, division head of operations, Metro Wastewater Reclamation District, Denver, Denver
  • Logan Olds, general manager, Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority, Hesperia, Calif.
  • Lou Storino, principal civil engineer, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Chicago
  • Diane Taniguchi-Dennis, deputy general manager, Clean Water Services, Hillsboro, Ore.

SIWW is a global platform for water professionals to share innovative solutions for integration of sustainable water management strategies with urban planning processes. Scholarship recipients will receive funds for travel, lodging, and registration, and will write papers or make presentations in the U.S. to share what they have learned.
