WaterTAP, Ontario Government Join for WEFTEC

Ontario organizations seek to boost the province’s profile as a world water technology hub

The Ontario Water Technology Acceleration Project (WaterTAP) is joining with two Ontario ministries to boost the province’s profile as a world water technology hub at WEFTEC, the world’s largest annual water quality exhibition with over 17,000 attendees.

WaterTAP will join representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment and the Ministry of Research and Innovation in anchoring the Ontario Pavilion (WEFTEC booth 4873). Thirty-nine Ontario organizations will exhibit at the event, including 12 within the pavilion.

“WEFTEC is a must-attend conference for water companies, utilities, researchers and consultants,” said WaterTAP CEO Brian Mergelas. “It’s a terrific opportunity to spread the word that Ontario is the best place in the world to be in the water business and an ideal gateway to North and South American markets.”

Mergelas will speak twice at the conference. His first address, “How Ontario Accelerates Water Technology,” will follow Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the keynote series. His comments will detail the latest developments within the Ontario water hub and technology clusters, and the critical role WaterTAP plays in helping water and wastewater companies connect with the right partners, testing and validation sites, and government programs available to increase the rate of technology adoption and commercial success.

In a second talk, Mergelas will showcase Ontario success stories, profiling Ontario Pavilion exhibitors Aclarus Inc., Aslan Technologies Inc., Clearford Industries Inc., EnviroSim Associates, G.E.T Industries Inc., Hannah Environmental Equipment, Mantech Inc., N-Viro Systems Canada LP, Napier-Reid Ltd., Purifics, Riva Modeling Systems Inc. and Southern Ontario Water Consortium.
