EPA Releases Annual Beach Report

Report includes findings on beach closings and advisories during the 2012 swimming season

For the eighth consecutive year, in 2012, the nation's coastal and Great Lakes beaches were open 95% of the time during the swimming season. This and other findings on beach closings and advisories that occurred during the 2012 swimming season, as well as data trends from 2007 to 2012, are available in the U.S. Environmental Department’s (EPA) annual report. The report also details recent developments in EPA's Beach Program, including improved access to online beach monitoring and notification data (BEACON), updates to the National List of Beaches and EPA's final 2012 Recreational Water Quality Criteria.
