New Distance Learning Courses for Storm Water BMPs

Jan. 16, 2005

The Office of Water Programs (OWP) at Sacramento State University is now offering three online distance learning courses based on the California Stormwater Quality Association's (CASQA) Storm Water Best Management Practice (BMP) handbooks.

These courses are designed to provide continuing education for professional engineers, construction companies, municipal agencies, regulatory agencies, and others to increase their knowledge of storm water BMPs.

The course in New Development and Redevelopment provides guidance for selecting and implementing BMPs to reduce pollutants in runoff.

The second course, Construction, provides guidance on developing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for particular types of construction projects. The course for Municipal applications includes regulatory requirements, pollution prevention planning, source control BMPs, treatment control BMPs and long-term maintenance.

Each course includes a Study Guide CD and online access to the final exam. Students earn two Continuing Education Units for completion of each course. See www.owp.csus.edu/research/bmpcourses or call OWP at (916) 278-6142 for more information.
