N.J. Committee OKs Storm Water Regulations
A recent township committee meeting in Eagleswood, N.J. addressed a series of storm water management ordinances designed to bring the town into compliance with state regulations.
According to a report in the Asbury Park Press, the six ordinances cover a wide ground, regulating activities ranging from wildlife feeding to waste disposal. The rules make it illegal to:
+Not pick up pet solid waste immediately if it is deposited on public land or someone else's property. Those who need an animal because of a disability are exempt while that animal is being used to assist them;
+Feed unconfined wildlife on public property;
+Sweep, rake, blow or place leaves into the street unless the leaves are in a proper container;
+Dump any material other than storm water into the storm water system that would put pollutants into the system. There are a variety of exceptions to this rule, including car washing, swimming pool discharge and air conditioning condensate; and
Discharge into the municipal storm sewer system through an unpermitted connection.
