Chattanooga Faces $100,000 Stormwater Fine
Recently, the state of Tennessee fined the city of Chattanooga $100.000 for failing to fix seven-year-old stormwater problems. According to reports, the fine could grow to $635,000 if not corrected by 2008.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation assessed the penalty in an April 12th order.
The state of Tennessee order allows the city five months to define all major industrial and non-industrial stormwater outfalls and allows one year to start a monitoring program for sources of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.
