Timmons Group Receives Storm Water Program Update Contract for Petersburg, Va.
Civil engineering design firm Timmons Group announced today that it was awarded a contract by the city of Petersburg, Va., to provide engineering services to assist the city in meeting the requirements of the Virginia Stormwater Management Program's general permit for discharges from small MS4s (municipal separate storm sewer systems). Phase I of the contract includes updating the city's MS4 program plan and recommending additional strategies for continued permit compliance. Phase II of the contract includes studying the feasibility of the city's implementation of a storm water utility program and associated funding mechanisms to support the program.
Given the potential need to implement a storm water utility fee or other dedicated funding source, Timmons Group asked Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM) to join the team to assist with Phase II tasks. CDM recently provided storm water utility implementation services for the city of Colonial Heights, Va.
"Timmons Group is currently providing storm water management and MS4 permit compliance services to the cities of Norfolk and Richmond, Henrico and James City Counties, and many other local governments through on-call service agreements," said Drew Gould, principal of Timmons Group's Stormwater Services Group. “We understand these contracts and are pleased to offer the city our team members' expertise.”
