Three New Board Members Join Clean Water America Alliance
Three new board members are joining the Clean Water America Alliance (CWAA) from the agriculture, energy and water sectors: Dan Keppen, Kristin Mayes and John Salo. “[CWAA] is as broad and diverse as the nature of water and the landscape of our country,” said CWAA president Ben Grumbles. “It’s great to have John, Kris and Dan on the board, adding invaluable insight on water, energy and food and how they are all connected from east to west.”
Keppen is executive director of Family Farm Alliance, a nonprofit organization that advocates for agricultural water users in 17 Western states. He has 22 years of experience in water resources engineering, planning, policy and advocacy in the western U.S.
Mayes is professor and director of the law and sustainability program at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. She served as commissioner of the Arizona Corporation Commission from 2003 to 2010, where she worked on pipeline safety, renewable energy and natural gas issues.
Salo is senior vice president at Brown and Caldwell. He has 40 years of experience in environmental engineering and served in leadership roles for major water and wastewater planning and design projects for utilities throughout the U.S. Currently Salo is vice chair of the Water Environment Federation’s governmental affairs committee and serves on NACWA technical committees on facility and collection systems and wet weather.
