Engineering Expert Named President for Atkins’ Water & Environment Group in North America
Engineering consulting firm Atkins has named Gary Erickson, PE, as president of its Water & Environment group business. He has more than 30 years of experience within the engineering industry, including many years working for federal government agencies.
Prior to Atkins, Erickson served in management capacities at two other consulting firms as director of business development and strategy and president of federal services. He also filled civil engineering leadership roles with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served as director of the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence.
“Gary’s extensive career leading the execution of major infrastructure projects, and his strong skills in strategy development and implementation, make him an ideal complement to our leadership team,” said Dean Fox, CEO of Atkins in North America.
Erickson’s resume includes surface water and groundwater management, water resource planning, flood management and risk assessment. He has worked on water resource programs in developing countries and helped improve water resource delivery for agricultural and municipal uses in the West Bank. He also worked on the Hurricane Katrina taskforce recovery team evaluating risk reviews for levee repairs, pump stations, and municipal water system recovery/start-up.
Erickson holds a bachelor’s degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a master’s degree in public administration from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
