RJN Group Awarded Year-Long Basin Study in Walnut Hills Area of Cincinnati
RJN Group Inc. announced that it will work with the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) to complete a study of the Walnut Hills sewershed basin that encompasses 1,000 acres of extensively developed area in Cincinnati. Wet-weather surcharging has been an issue in this basin because of capacity issues in combined trunk lines.
RJN, with MSDGC Planning, will establish specific study goals and objectives, review existing asset data, and develop a level of service capacity program. Data gaps will be identified and field task will be scoped and implemented to provide missing condition or capacity information. An engineering alternative analysis and project plan will be prepared for the basin.
A 20-year capital plan identifying wet-weather improvement projects prioritized by level of service and maintenance/capacity requirements will also be developed as a result of this study. MSDGC Planning will have a tool to sequence projects and incorporate storm water separation options to reduce capacity related issues. Sequencing projects will minimize design and construction costs, as well as provide visibility of basin required for maintaining functional, physical, and social capital.
