Los Angeles County Approves Jellyfish Filter System for Storm Water Treatment

Compact, lightweight system features small footprint
Feb. 23, 2011

Imbrium Systems announced that its innovative Jellyfish Filter System has been approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to treat storm water runoff.

The Jellyfish Filter System is a compact storm water treatment technology that can treat up to three times the flow capacity with just one-third the footprint and one-fifth the weight of conventional filtration BMPs.

Many Jellyfish Filter Systems have been installed across North America, including in California, Oregon, Washington State, Colorado, New Jersey and New York. The technology is currently undergoing strict storm water field test regimens and the initial findings have exceeded expectations.

The typical Jellyfish Filter System requires only 18 in. of "head" or drop to fully operate. In addition, the advanced membrane filter captures very fine sediment particles at a treatment flow rate of 50 gal per minute per standard cartridge, and continues to operate successfully for years as a result of a built-in passive backwash.
