Plastics Pipe Institute Announces Inaugural Recognition Awards
The Plastics Pipe Institute, Inc. (PPI) recently announced industry recognition of six projects and three individuals from member companies. The nonprofit industry group established the program to acknowledge projects and people for exceptional contributions to the industry through the use of polyethylene (PE) pipe. The award winners were announced during the PPI annual meeting earlier this year:
PPI Fuel Gas Division Projects of the Year
• Peoples Energy CI/DI Main Replacement (Chicago). PPI Member Companies: Performance Pipe and Forrer Supply.
• Improved PE Gas Pipe for Natural Gas Distribution - Bimodal PE2708 Gas Pipe Application. PPI Member Companies: PolyPipe and Dow Chemical.
PPI Municipal & Industrial Division Project of the Year
• Lake Oswego (Oregon) Interceptor Sewer Project. PPI Member Companies: Performance Pipe, Ferguson Waterworks, Ferguson Industrial Plastics.
PPI Conduit Division Project of the Year
• Princeton, IL Underground Utilities Program. PPI Member Companies: Blue Diamond Industries.
PPI CPPA Division Project of the Year
• Corrugated Pipe Railroad Test Program. PPI Member Companies: Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS).
The PPI membership also recognized the following individuals for their outstanding contributions and service to the organization:
• Karen Lively, Technical Chair for Municipal and Industrial Division, Performance Pipe;
• Sarah Patterson, Marketing Chair for Conduit Division, Dow Chemical; and
• Rick Thomas, Research Committee for CPPA Division, TRI/Environmental, Inc.
"This program was created to recognize our members and companies who have accomplished installations and implemented projects demonstrating the unique benefits and remarkable features of plastic pipe systems while illustrating improved performance and economical advantages," said Tony Radoszewski, executive director of the PPI. "The PPI appreciates and acknowledges those whose contributions have helped advance our industry and made significant impact within our communities. We have a vibrant, enthusiastic membership and that is a key reason why the PPI has been successful for nearly 60 years. This new program formally spotlights devoted people who are trailblazers and projects that provide smart solutions."
