Bord na Mona to Host Panel Discussion on Water Reuse at 2010 NAHB Green Building Conference
Moving to put the issue of practical water reuse in the spotlight of the 2010 National Association of Homebuilders Conference (NAHB), Bord na Mona Environmental Products U.S. Inc. announced it will convene a group of industry experts to discuss the issue in depth in a panel discussion titled, “Water Efficiency, Reclamation, Reuse, and Management: Advances, Challenges, Opportunities” that will take place May 17, 2010, at 9 a.m.
“We invite every builder who is concerned about America’s growing water shortage problem to attend this vitally important panel discussion,” said Raymond Peat, director of business development at Bord na Mona Environmental Products U.S. Inc. “There is a lot that we can do today to address this issue and this panel presentation and discussion will provide a much needed overview of the challenges and the opportunities we face.”
According to Peat, the value of water efficiency and the use of reclaimed water are widely recognized as a smart way to satisfy both building and landscape water use demands--and also earn significant points and credits towards a variety of increasingly visible green certified building classifications. Water reuse experts will address a variety of topics to offer an overview of this issue. Attendees will be brought up to date on the many significant advances in the field as well as briefed on lingering challenges to be addressed.
Joining Peat on the panel will be Bord na Mona Environmental Products U.S. Inc. President Shane Keaney, as well as the following distinguished guests:
• Albert Robert Rubin: emeritus professor and formerly the waste management specialist in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, N.C.;
• Thomas Bruursema: general manager, drinking water and wastewater treatment unit programs at NSF. Employed by NSF for over 24 years, he has served in a number of technical and administrative positions; and
• Dr. Mike Hoover: professor and soils extension specialist, Soil Science Department, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. Dr. Mike Hoover has worked as a researcher, teacher and decentralized wastewater expert for the past 34 years.
