Book Aims to Teach Children Pollution's Harms

All the Way to the Ocean cautions of effect littering has on marine environment

Feb. 9, 2010

All the Way to the Ocean by Joel Harper is an educational picture book, tailored for Kindergaten to fourth-grade children. The book deals specifically with "edutaining" youth on the harmful effects litter, in its many forms, has on our marine environment. The two featured protagonists, Issac and James, discover the cause and effect relationship between our cities storm drains and the world's lakes, rivers and ultimately our oceans. The book aims to teach both young and adult readers that, if we all do our part, a cleaner, safer environment is indeed within our reach.

All the Way to the Ocean is printed on recycled paper with soy ink. Awards include the Newton Marasco Green Earth Book Award and the Santa Monica Public Libraries Green Prize for Sustainable Literature.

The book can be found in REI retail stores, aquariums, zoos, national parks, children's science centers and botanic gardens around the country.
