Thursday, Jan. 8 through Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, the Everglades Coalition will host its 24th Annual Conferece at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
Open to the public and hosted by the National Parks Conservation Association, the conference will bring together leaders, elected officials and community and environmental activists to discuss the opportunities and challenges in 2009 to restore the Everglades ecosystem.
Topics include: growth management, political/public partnerships, endangered/invasive species, wildlife habitat, energy policies, water quality and flow plans. Speakers include former U.S. Sen. and Florida Gov. Bob Graham, Senate President Jeff Attwater and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez.
The event kicks off with a reception Jan. 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $190 for four days ($110 for one-day registration) and includes receptions, breaks, plenary and breakout sessions and conference materials.
