TenCate Geosynthetics North America is pleased to announce that the company has received the 2008 Industrial Fabrics Association Intl. (IFAI) Award of Excellence for its Swamp and Stream Crossing Airmail Drive project using Mirafi HP370.
This project involved surface upgrades made to geotextile-reinforced soil (GRS) embankments that allowed for the construction of the road and open stream crossing structure in British Columbia, Canada. This project was constructed in an expeditious manner, with very limited impact on the environment. The structure itself has re-established fish passage between the Sheridan Lake and Staley Lake in British Columbia. Along with exceeding short-term performance goals, this project is also expected to provide long-term support for the proposed traffic.
The International Achievement Awards recognize worldwide excellence in design, technological innovation and excellence within the specialty fabrics industry. This year the 61st annual competition received 408 total entries from 16 countries for 28 categories. A distinguished panel of industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals judged the entries. Chosen for their knowledge of the various categories, judges evaluated each entry based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function.
"We are excited to have won the 2008 IFAI Award of Excellence again this year," said John Henderson, P.E., vice president of marketing for TenCate. "This award shows our continued commitment to document unique applications using geosynthetic products.”
