Collaboration to help municipalities maximize efficiency of asset ownership and operation

VUEWorks Inc. and Springbrook Software have formed a technology partnership to help local government agencies increase efficiency and accountability by linking their financial, asset management and GIS systems.

The two companies are integrating VUEWorks’ GIS-enabled asset and work order management solution with Springbrook’s accounting and CIS software, and will develop joint solutions that allow organizations to track the true cost of owning and operating individual assets.

Examples of future capabilities include:

• The ability to link labor and payroll costs in both systems, eliminating redundant data entry and errors and allowing municipalities to track and cross-charge other departments for labor and equipment used in the field;

• the ability to perform fixed asset valuation and depreciation in VUEWorks and roll it up in Springbrook; and

• the ability to comply with government regulations such as GASB 34 reporting and the new California Waste Discharge Requirements, a regulatory mechanism for providing a consistent, statewide approach for reducing sanitary sewer overflows.

The VUEWorks-Springbrook integration is already delivering labor-saving benefits to a mutual beta customer--Northstar CSD, a California Special District located near Truckee, Calif. Northstar has reported that VUEWorks collects a substantial amount of its departmental cost and payroll information, which is then keyed into Springbrook.

“We have a proof of concept that VUEWorks can collect all the information we need and organize it in the fashion that it can be consumed by Springbrook," said Ryen Tarbet, IT supervisor for Northstar. "Our next step is to automate this step with a direct VUEWorks-Springbrook integration. We are on the cusp of some very substantive development work.”

“VUEWorks and Springbrook both focus on the local government market, and we have many clients in common,” said Alex von Svoboda, vice president of sales and marketing for VUEWorks. “Integrating the products allows us to serve our clients better, as they can maximize the return on their software investment and optimize functionality across the organization.”

Scott Stickel, Springbrook’s vice president of sales and marketing, is equally enthusiastic about the partnership. “In a turbulent economy, we understand the importance of maximizing every dollar," he said. "The powerful combination of Springbrook’s software and VUEWorks’ solution is just one example of our shared commitment to provide smart, progressive technology to the public sector.”
