IECA Announces 2009 Board of Directors

New board members Phil Handley and Rick Morse join re-elected Becky Gauthier

The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) membership voted to re-elect Becky Gauthier to the 2009 Board of Directors. Joining Gauthier to the 2009 Board of Directors are new board members Phil Handley, REM, CPESC, and Rick Morse, CPESC, CPSS, CEnvP.

Handley and Morse will begin their service to the association and its members in February alongside fellow board members Mike Chase, CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI; Julie Etra, CPESC; Becky Gauthier; Mark Hunter, P.E.; Sandy Mathews, Brock Peters, CISEC; and Tom Williams, CPESC.

Becky Gauthier works as a technical associate for Profile Products. She has more than 17 years of experience in the hydraulic mulch industry and has been an active member of IECA since 1988. “I am passionate about the International Erosion Control Association as a place for industry experts to gather and talk about our projects and products. It provides a safe environment for contractors, engineers, specifiers and suppliers,” Gauthier said.

Phil Handley is a construction compliance supervisor with the San Antonio Water System and has been an active member of IECA since 2003. “I will work diligently and effectively as a board member to represent the best interests of the IECA, its membership and the citizens we serve,” Handley said.

Rick Morse is retired but continues to work part-time as a consultant to his former company, SEEC Morse McVey. “I have sought to be a trailblazer--to bring the erosion and sediment control ethos to the forefront of awareness of our legislators, consent authorities, and land developers and their consultants," he said. As a result, real and meaningful changes have occurred in New South Wales and are beginning to occur in southeast Queensland as well. I have helped set wheels in motion with a momentum that cannot be stopped now. My desire is to see that momentum spread even wider.”

The IECA Board of Directors is made up of nine members, each serving a three-year term. Board positions will be decided at the board meeting to be held at Environmental Connection 2009, IECA’s annual conference and expo, Feb. 9 to 13 in Reno, Nev.
