Neven Kresic Named Senior Principal Hydrogeologist at MACTEC
Dr. Neven Kresic, P.G., P.H., C.G.W.P., has been named senior principal hydrogeologist at MACTEC Engineering and Consulting Inc. (MEC). Allen Kibler, president of MEC, made the announcement. Kresic is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
According to MACTEC vice president and Southeast area ,anager David Goershel, Kresic brings to MACTEC more than 25 years of consulting, research and teaching experience in projects and issues related to groundwater and surface water.
“Neven will strengthen MACTEC’s ability to provide hydrology- and hydrogeology-related services to our clients,” said Goershel. “He will be a tremendous technical resource for all branches of the company.”
Kresic has managed projects for federal, state and local agencies, and industries such as water, transportation, power utilities and oil, petrochemical, chemical and construction companies in the U.S., Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. His areas of expertise include groundwater engineering, development and remediation, groundwater modeling, karst and fractured rock hydrogeology, water resources planning and expert witness testimony.
Besides his consulting experience, Kresic has written several books, including his latest, "Groundwater Resources: Sustainability, Management and Restoration," published by McGraw-Hill. He is associate editor of the journal Water Science and Technology, and guest editor of the journal Ground Water. In addition, he was a professor at Belgrade University, Yugoslavia, and Texas Christian University, Ft. Worth, Texas, and taught courses at Georgia State University and short professional courses for the National Ground Water Association.
Kresic is a founding member of the Ground Water Modeling Interest Group sponsored by the National Ground Water Association and an active member of the Karst Commission of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. He serves as vice president for International Affairs of the American Institute of Hydrology and vice chair of the Groundwater Management and Remediation Specialty Group of the International Water Association.
Kresic holds a doctorate in geology/hydrogeology, a master’s degree in hydrogeology and a bachelor’s degree in hydrogeologic engineering, all from the University of Belgrade.
