EcoEngineering, a division of The John R. McAdams Co., has announced that one of its project managers, James Caldwell, will be a featured presenter at the Association of State Dam Safety Officials' Southeast regional conference in Asheville, N.C., April 13 to 16 at the Crowne Plaza Resort.
Caldwell's presentation will take place April 15 and focus on the Randolph D. Fox dam drain system located in Orange County, N.C. The presentation will outline the history of the dam, including permitting, construction and filling. Caldwell will address the discovery of damage to the drainage diaphragm outlet pipe and the remediation measures needed to repair the damages. He will also discuss the importance of routine inspections of dams, especially during the first filling as well as after construction is completed. Problems with faulty dam construction can sometimes take months or years to surface.
“James is a expert on dam construction and safety,” said Amos Clark, director of the EcoEngineering division. “Having him make a presentation at such a prestigious conference further solidifies our position as experts in the environmental and storm water industry.”
The Association of State Dam Safety Officials is a national nonprofit organization serving state dam safety programs and the broader dam safety community, which includes federal dam safety professionals, dam owners and operators, engineering consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, academia, contractors and others interested in improving dam safety.
