SCS Engineer Earns LEED Accreditation

Firm promotes clients' earning of certification credits

SCS Engineers has announce that Thomas E. Gilardi, P.E., of the Reston, Va., office, has become a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP). Gilardi has devoted his distinguished 20-year career to the fields of environmental remediation and government contracting as a civil engineer and program manager. Gilardi is SCS's East Coast federal program manager.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design U.S. Green Building Council rating system establishes a suite of standards to foster sustainable green building and development practices. SCS is a member of the US Green Building Council.

LEED APs have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. LEED APs facilitate the integrated design process and streamline LEED certification of buildings and infrastructure projects.

Building owners can realize both environmental and financial benefits when their projects earn LEED certification. SCS assists clients in obtaining certification in the following certification credit areas: brownfield redevelopment; onsite renewable energy; green power; storage and collection of recyclables by building tenants; recovery and reuse of construction and demolition wastes; and innovation in design.
