American Institute of Hydrology Elects New Registration Chair

David T. Williams brings years of professional society committee leadership to AIH

David T. Williams, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, national technical director of water resources for PBS&J, has been elected chair of the American Institute of Hydrology (AIH) Board of Registration.

As chair of the Board of Registration, Williams will preside over a ten-person board that develops rules and regulations governing certification of professional hydrologists, a process that includes peer review and testing. The board is also responsible for maintaining the Registry of Professional Hydrologists and monitoring the professional conduct of its members. With his election, Williams becomes a voting member of the AIH Executive Committee.

In addition to his involvement with the AIH, Williams has served as chair of the Federal Interagency Technical Committee on Sedimentation, two-time president and nine-year board member of the International Erosion Control Association and chair of numerous professional society committees.

Williams earned a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Colorado State University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis. He is a registered engineer in the states of California, Arizona and Texas and a certified professional in erosion and sediment control.

Founded in 1981, the AIH is a nonprofit scientific and educational organization and the only national organization offering certification to professionals in all fields of hydrology.
