Robert E. Crowley has been named senior principal scientist at MACTEC Engineering & Consulting, according to an announcement by President Bruce C. Coles. Crowley is based in MACTEC's Pittsburgh office.

Bringing more than 20 years of environmental consulting experience encompassing project and task management, site assessments and and investigations, and human health and ecological risk assessments, Crowley has worked on more than 120 sites in 22 states. He has provided technical services on sites under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act and Tox Substances Control Act enforcement actions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and on sites regulated under various state enforcement, voluntary and brownfields redevelopment actions.

Crowley began his career as a fisheries biologist for a Pittsburgh firm and has since worked for a number of leading private sector companies as a microscopist, assistant project environmental scientist, project manager and senior project manager. In his most recent position, Crowley served as the Pittsburgh office manager for a large international consulting and engineering firm.
