Wisconsin to host day-long roundtable and demonstration

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 plans announced today its sponsorship of a day-long storm water management workshop. The roundtable and demonstration, which will be held Sept. 13 at the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha, Wis., will focus on using compost as a management technique.

The workshop, titled "Using Compost to Improve Storm Water Management and Erosion Control on Roadsides" is targeted to watershed and storm water managers, highway and erosion engineers, compost producers, soil conservationists and erosion control contractors. Presenters will lead an exploration of the benefits of using compost in storm water management and erosion control.

The morning session will feature experts from EPA, Iowa State University and Minnesota Department of Transportation, among others. A trip to erosion control plots at the Waukesha County composting site is among the afternoon session's field demonstration highlights.

A $50 registration fee includes morning and afternoon sessions, as well as a "Zero Waste Style" barbeque lunch.
