Colorado Springs Residents get Explanation for Storm Water Fees

Property owners in Colorado Springs are getting an explanation to clear up any confusion over the new storm-water fees.

Thousands of fliers were being distributed to residents all around the city explaining the new drainage fee and why it's necessary. They also show people how to calculate what they will be paying.

Much of the money collected will be used to construct and improve drainage ways.

There are also plans to spend the money on public education programs such as the "Ditch Playing In Ditches" website, which is meant to discourage children from playing in drainage ways.

The short video is also airing during previews in some movie theatres. The website offers interactive games to teach children about the dangers in ditches.

Residents of Colorado Springs can expect to see their first Storm Water Enterprise bill in January of next year.
