Water Treatment Worker Named to Valpo Storm Water Board

Valparaiso, Ind. Mayor Jon Costas announced Friday that John C. Kendall was appointed to fill the third seat on the city's Storm Water Management Board.

According to a report in the NWI Times, Kendal will fill the vacancy created when Gale Carmona's term expired at the end of 2005.

Kendall works for Nalco, a water treatment services company, as the lead wastewater group field sales division wastewater sales manager.

"I saw an article in The Times over the holidays about people retiring from the board," he said of his reason for applying. "One said they needed somebody with an engineering background, and I thought that was something I could get involved with. It's easy to complain about boards, but sometimes there's opportunities out there for a lot of people."

Kendall has a chemical engineering degree from Purdue University, a masters in business administration from Pittsburgh University and an equivalent masters in wastewater engineering and microbiology from the RTW Engineers' Biological Wastewater School. He joins Peter Weiss, who was appointed last month to fill the unexpired term of Fred McNulty, and Mark Reshkin, who has been president of the board since its formation 10 years ago. Kendall's term expires at the end of 2009.
