Keyser, W.V. Releases Message on Storm Water Issues

March 22, 2006

Recently, some residents of the Airport Addition, specifically along the 1200-1300 block of Lynmar Street, in Keyser, W.V., have had improvements and modifications made to their homes in an attempt to prevent storm water and sanitary sewer back-ups from entering their basements.

According to a report in the Mineral Daily News-Tribune, this problem has been ongoing for several years, in some cases since the 1970s. The City of Keyser Sanitary Board (KSB) is aware of the situation and has been actively working with some homeowners and several state agencies to find an overall solution to the problem.

To date, the city has worked with three homeowners who have incurred personal expense and has reimbursed those residents for the work performed. According to the KSB, “It is important for residents to understand that these particular residents had extensive contact with the Sanitary Board before having the modifications made to their homes, and in each case, the work was performed in consultation with the Sanitary Board, and the Board inspected the scope of work and the results before and after its completion.”
