More than 200 municipal and government professionals, engineers, contractors, and consultants are expected to attend full-day workshops in the San Francisco Bay area on Friday, May 12, 2006 at the San Ramon Marriott in San Ramon, Calif., to learn new storm water management techniques.
One of the workshops will be taught by Timothy Sobelman, chief of the Office of Storm Water Management at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans); Michael Broadwater, storm water program manager at Vali Cooper & Associates; Dave Sluga, principal of DAS Engineering; and James Sullivan, project manager at Metcalf & Eddy.
According to Sobelman, “Controlling storm water pollution and protecting the beneficial uses of our waters is a growing concern. Caltrans strives to achieve the highest standard in preventing storm water pollution before, during and after construction of transportation infrastructure. The challenge the department faces is addressing storm water while also improving mobility across California. I, along with Caltrans consultants, look forward to sharing our techniques in San Ramon with storm water professionals from across the state and nation.”
Each of the full-day workshops will be taught by leading storm water experts including a nationally known storm water author, Caltrans officials and experts from Contra Costa County, and Brown and Caldwell who will present, respectively, “Storm Water Funding and Utility Development,” “Storm Water Management for New Construction and Major Reconstruction in California” and “User-Friendly Hydrograph Modification Management: A California Case Study.” The workshops are presented by StormCon, the world's largest annual storm water conference.
