Construction is expected to begin next week on a $1.2 million storm water project to alleviate flooding on Paxton and Pearl avenues in south Tampa, according to a report in the Tampa Tribune.
Workers will place 1,900 ft of pipe from Paxton and Sixth Street east to MacDill Avenue, south on MacDill to Pearl and east to Quincy Street. Once construction is completed later this year, storm water will be routed into Hillsborough Bay, said Steven Seachrist, chief engineer with the city's storm water department.
The project is part of Mayor Pam Iorio's five-year, $60 million plan to improve storm water drainage. Carl Hankins Inc., of Tampa, is the project contractor.
