Hardscapes Manufacturer Recognized for Contribution to City Hall Construction
Hanson Hardscapes was recognized by the National Concrete Masonry Assn. (NCMA), the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) and Hardscape North America (HNA) for its materials contribution to the city hall project in the village of Palmetto Bay, Fla.
Hanson provided more than 40,000 sq ft of AquaPave permeable pavers for the three major spaces—the civic green, Bismarkia palm court and entrance plaza—that create the public realm around the new village center. The onsite storm water management system supports the village’s commitment to sustainability through its ability to harvest storm water for reuse.
“Contributing to sustainability through storm water management is one of the most important benefits of our products,” said Pete Zingarella, vice president of sales at Hanson Hardscapes. “We are proud to be recognized for our efforts in this category, and we hope to continue supplying our customers the best variety of products for their needs.”
The project received an award of excellence in the pavers category for the 2011 NCMA/ICPI Design Awards of Excellence competition, as well as the commercial/industrial award in the concrete pavers category of the HNA Hardscape Project Awards.
The Palmetto Bay Municipal Center is currently on track to be the first LEED Platinum municipal building in Florida.
