NAIMOR: Nanostructure Innovative Material for Oil Recovery

Jan. 4, 2014

The Gulf of Mexico and Exxon Valdez oil spills showed the world just how vulnerable we are. Thousands of innocent lives were killed and many were seriously injured.  The technologies applied now to clean up are expensive and can cause severe environmental damage.

So I developed NAIMOR®, a revolutionary solution for oil spill problems. NAIMOR® is a 3-D nanostructure carbon material that can absorb oil 150 times its weight. Floating carpets of NAIMOR® are distributed over the spill area and are left there until they’re completely saturated. The carpets then go through a squeezing process. Since NAIMOR® is hydrophobic, the recovered oil is free of water and can be used again. Even NAIMOR® is reusable making it a cost effective and an environmentally friendly solution.

You can view a video and read more about NAIMOR® on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo. See http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/naimor-nanostructure-innovative-material-for-oil-recovery
