The LIUNA Training and Education Fund announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Assn. (ARCSA).

The MOU creates a partnership that will build on the strengths of both organizations and unite them in the effort to reduce storm water and provide viable, long-term solutions to freshwater shortages in the U.S. and Canada.

"The work we will do together will be vital in our effort to raise public awareness on water issues and find dollars for funding more rainwater collection projects that ultimately will produce a long-term solution to the water crisis we face in the western U.S.," said LIUNA Pacific Southwest Regional Manager Rocco Davis.

ARCSA President David Crawford, who joined Davis in signing the MOU, said the agreement further strengthens ARCSA's relationship with LIUNA Training. "We will be working together to provide highly trained professionals for installation of rainwater harvesting systems, as well as retrofitting or converting existing storm water retention systems to water reuse systems," said Crawford.

For decades, LIUNA Training has contributed to trade training and education, including an ANSI-accredited instructor certification program. These strengths match ARCSA's standards in the creation and implementation of professionally crafted rainwater catchment systems.

"By joining forces with a highly respected and successful organization like ARCSA, we will be able to train a knowledgeable professional workforce in an industry that continues to take on added importance with each passing year," said John J. LeConche, LIUNA Training's executive director.

The partnership between LIUNA Training and ARCSA brings together industry, labor and employers in an international training consortium. For more information on LIUNA Training, visit www.liunatraining.org. For more information about ARCSA, visit www.arcsa.org.
