The company will provide assistance with the city’s NPDES MS4 Monitoring and Assessment Program.

The city of Carlsbad, Calif., selected ALTA Environmental to provide scientific technical support to maintain water quality standards related to monitoring and assessment of urban runoff discharges into the ocean, coastal lagoons, creeks and other “receiving waters” within the city’s boundaries. ALTA will provide assistance with the city’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Monitoring and Assessment Program.

“ALTA has deep experience in water quality monitoring and assessment, and our team is looking forward to working with the city of Carlsbad to monitor discharge and meet its water quality goals and standards,” said David Renfrew, director of water resources at ALTA. “Our Water Resources team has the expertise and the ability to work closely with city engineers and staff to ensure best management practices are in place and to continue delivering the high quality of service that the residents and businesses of Carlsbad have grown to expect.”

The NPDES permit program began in 1972 and has resulted in improvements to water quality across the U.S. The San Diego Regional NPDES MS4 Permit requires the city of Carlsbad to implement programs to control the contribution of pollutants to and the discharges from the MS4 within its jurisdiction.
