U.S. Reps. Ryan Costello, R-Penn., and Dina Titus, D-Nev., formed the U.S. House Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus, which received support from industry organizations like the American Public Works Assn. (APWA).

The bipartisan caucus was formed to raise awareness of the critical importance of public works and infrastructure. It will be invaluable for educating members of Congress, their staff and the public on the services and projects communities across the country depend on, including roads and bridges, drinking water, flood control and storm water, recycling, solid waste removal, parks and recreation, public fleets and building, and emergency response.

“APWA represents more than 29,000 public works professionals across North America, and we are thrilled that the U.S. House of Representatives has established a new Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus,” said Scott D. Grayson, APWA executive director. “The creation of the ‘Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus’ will bring more attention and education about the crucial role that public works and infrastructure play in the daily quality of life in our communities, and to the investments required to maintain and operate them. APWA looks forward to serving as a key resource for the caucus, and to working with Congressman Costello and Congresswoman Titus as its Co-Chairs, and we encourage all House members to join the caucus.”

The House Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus can be a means to educate congress and the public on the need for greater investment in critical infrastructure, which is vital to the economy.

“The Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus will benefit from a bipartisan, geographically diverse membership willing to promote public works and infrastructure-related issues,” Grayson said. “On behalf of our members in municipalities across the nation, we look forward to working with all congressional leaders, and commit to being a key resource to focus on intelligent infrastructure investment and implementations for federal, state and local governments.”
