Jacobs has introduced Flood IQ, an artificial intelligence-enabled platform designed to help cities, utilities and agencies better anticipate, manage and respond to flooding events as climate pressures and urbanization strain existing stormwater systems.

The solution combines hydraulic modeling, sensor data and machine learning to provide real-time system visibility and forecasting across stormwater, wastewater and surface water networks. By integrating rainfall, river and infrastructure data, Flood IQ aims to deliver 24- to 72-hour flood forecasts, identify system vulnerabilities and support operational decision-making during storm events.

“Flood IQ represents a fundamental shift in how flood resilience is delivered, helping cities and utilities move beyond static models and reactive responses,” said Amer Battikhi, executive vice president at Jacobs, in a press release. “It provides continuous intelligence into how water systems are performing, supporting real-time decisions and long-term planning, while boosting resilience against recurring and major events.”

Jacobs pointed to global deployments demonstrating the platform’s capabilities, including predictive analytics across large sewer networks and integrated storm-response systems using thousands of sensors. For stormwater professionals, the launch reflects a broader shift toward AI-driven tools that enhance forecasting, optimize infrastructure performance and support more proactive flood risk management.
